This People Moving and Handling Risk Assessment Training Course is not just an attend course, students are required to take part in practical and theoretical work to successfully complete the course.

Course Description

Risk Assessment is a process in which Hazards are identified and judgements are made as to whether the risks they pose are high or low, acceptable or unacceptable. All personnel have a professional responsibility to ensure their own safety and that of others.

Risk Assessment is a tool that can be used by all personnel to assist in making an informed professional judgement as to how work can be carried out safely.

It is recommended that all risk assessments should be client specific at all times, carer specific where needed and reviewed for suitability at least every three months.
The risk assessments that are used on the course/in the pack serve as examples of some generic maneuvers,  as such it is hoped that the assessments may be useful to give a kick  start to risk assessments rather than them being the end solution.

Hoist and Slings

Hoist provide a safe means of transfer NOT transport and can facilitate independence and dignity. Host also aid in reduction of back pain of the cares.
Sometimes there are problems in using hoists, but this may rest with the care’s attitude rather than a valid reason. If the carers are inadequately trained or do not use the equipment regularly they will lack confidence and proficiency in the use of the hoists and slings. The training in the use of a sling and hoist is completed safely both for the benefit of the client and the carer.
